Woman, 39, Accused Of Pointing Revolver At Teenager, Friends

A 39-year-old Coeur d’Alene woman was charged Thursday with aggravated assault after she allegedly pointed a handgun at a teenage girl and her friends.

The 16-year-old girl told police she was driving south on 16th Street just before midnight Wednesday when a woman in a short black tank top and blue jeans walked in front of her car.

The woman pointed a shiny handgun at the girl when she stopped the car, yelled profanities at her and walked into a duplex in the 1100 block of 16th Street, according to a police report.

Frightened, the girl drove to her apartment and returned a few minutes later with some friends. They saw the woman standing near the intersection of 16th and Birch waving the gun around, the police report said. The girl and her friends left and flagged down a police officer.

Karen Lee Anderson reportedly ran up to the officer while he was interviewing the girl and her friends. The girl identified Anderson as the woman with the gun and she was arrested, according to the police report.

Police said they found a loaded, stainless-steel .44-caliber Magnum revolver in Anderson’s cupboard.

Anderson told police she is being stalked by her husband’s ex-wife and her friends. She claimed a man jumped a fence and was watching her home.
