Dollar Hits 10-Month Low Vs. Peso

The dollar dropped to a 10-month low against the peso Wednesday on signs of an economic rebound in Mexico, and also fell against the yen amid fears of escalating trade friction between the United States and Japan.

Traders said foreign investors encouraged by a report of unexpected economic growth boosted the peso, which was also helped by higher interest rates in Mexico’s bond market.

In late New York trading, the dollar settled at 7.7450 pesos, down from 7.750 Tuesday and its lowest level since 7.7410 on Oct. 21.
