Monroe Shuts Down Friday For 40 Days

From Staff And Wire Reports

Rethink that commute.

City crews are rebuilding Monroe Street from the Spokane River to 400 feet north of Mallon Avenue.

Starting Friday, Monroe will be closed from Boone Avenue to Bridge Avenue for 40 days. Post Street also will be closed from the north end of that street’s bridge to Spokane Falls Boulevard - except to drivers heading to the YMCA, Washington Water Power Co. and City Hall.

There will be detours.

Traffic heading north on Monroe will be diverted to Lincoln Street. Drivers will merge onto Monroe again once clear of the work area.

Southbound traffic will be detoured at Boone, east to Lincoln, then south to Bridge Avenue and west to Monroe again.

Monroe businesses can still be reached via Lincoln, side streets and the sidewalk. Parking on Bridge Avenue will not be allowed. , DataTimes
