Pacific Park Drive Project To Be Discussed Next Month

A hearing on a proposed planned unit development at Pacific Park Drive and Indian Trail Road is set for Sept. 23.

Western Real Properties is planning to subdivide 4.6 acres on the south side of Pacific Park Road into 25 lots.

Developers plan to build single-family attached homes on the lots.

As proposed, the homes will be clustered in groups of two, attached like duplexes with common walls. Unlike duplexes, both sides of the unit are often owner-occupied, say developers.

Driveway access to the home will be from Pacific Park Drive.

Construction is expected to start in the spring, said Gene Cameron, who represent the development group.

About two dozen neighbors recently met with Cameron to learn about the proposed project. The development will include private roads and open spaces, according to the proposal.

Lot sizes will range from 3,825 square feet to 4,900 square feet. The density is 5.4 units per acre.

Western Real Properties is also proposing a 59-unit apartment complex with parking on the north side of Pacific Park Drive, and a small business or professional office on Indian Trail Road, near the fire station.

Hearings on those projects haven’t been scheduled.

Neighbors expressed concerns about increased traffic on Pacific Park Road. Others said they were told that a library or park would be built on the property. Spokane School District 81 owns property for a proposed elementary school. A church is also planned in the same area.
