Repairs To Seattle Ferry Terminal May Inconvenience Commuters

Associated Press

Work begins Tuesday on Washington State Ferries’ main terminal in downtown Seattle, and commuters should be ready to change their habits.

Ferry officials said Thursday that the construction will close the north exit from Colman Dock to Marion Street. As a result, all vehicles arriving in Seattle by ferry will have to head southbound onto Alaskan Way.

Construction is expected to last through midday Friday. The lone exception to the traffic rerouting will be Wednesday night, when the Marion exit will be open to relieve expected traffic congestion from a Seattle Mariners game.

The construction is necessary to repair heavy damage to support pilings at the Colman Dock from marine borer worms and other parasites.
