Indy To Host Worlds
Indianapolis will host the men’s world basketball championships in 2002 after beating out Tokyo and Munich in bidding.
It will be the first time the international competition will be held in the United States. The only other North American city to hold the event was Toronto in 1994. The tournament is held every four years and is scheduled for Athens, Greece, next year.
The U.S. squad will include Vin Baker of Seattle, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Grant Hill of Detroit, Charlotte’s Glen Rice and Chris Webber of the Washington Wizards.
