Tuition Deferment Deadline Nearing
More than 10,000 students attending the Community Colleges of Spokane have until next week to defer their tuition payment into 1998 and take advantage of the federal Hope Scholarship.
Spokane Falls Community College students must turn in their request for tuition deferment by Monday; Spokane Community College students by Dec. 12.
The deferment allows students to wait until Jan. 2 to pay tuition for the winter quarter and qualify for the Hope Scholarship. Payment must be made that day at the college’s cashier offices.
The scholarship is a direct tax credit of up to $1,500 for students in their first and second years of college. However, tuition must be paid after Jan. 1 to qualify.
The CCS sent more than 10,000 deferment forms to students last week, explaining how the program works. Students who do not defer tuition must pay it in December as usual. , DataTimes
