Naked Truck Driver Delays Crapo Flight

Associated Press

When Rep. Michael Crapo arrived half an hour late for a speech in Boise on Wednesday morning, he said he had a good excuse.

The airplane he was supposed to take from Idaho Falls to Boise couldn’t take off from Pocatello because a man was driving a pickup up and down the runways.

Crapo, R-Idaho, said he was told the truck had come within inches of the airplane’s propellers, so airport traffic was halted until police could resolve the problem.

Pocatello police were called at 7 a.m. as tower personnel complained that the truck was circling Horizon and Sky West planes waiting to take off, Capt. Kirk Nelson said.

Officers eventually cornered the truck driver, Ronald Glenn, 40, of Perry, Utah. They removed the driver and found he was naked, Nelson said.

Glenn fought officers and suffered some abrasions from the asphalt.

Glenn was taken to a hospital and will be jailed, Nelson said. He is to be charged with drunken driving.
