Seattle Invited To Bid For Demo Convention

Seattle is among 27 cities invited by the Democratic National Committee to bid for the party’s convention in 2000.

The invitation was extended in a letter to Mayor-elect Paul Schell. Party officials say the 27 cities were chosen because they expressed informal interest or were considered to be potentially interested and capable of holding a major party convention.

The cities have until Jan. 16 to submit a written response.
