With Decree, Canada Mail Service To Resume

Associated Press

Mail service to Canada is being resumed, now that the Canadian Parliament has ordered an end to a mail strike there, the U.S. Postal Service announced Thursday.

All classes of air and surface mail bound for Canada will be accepted in U.S. post offices, the agency said. Service was suspended last month when Canadian mail workers struck.

Mail returned to Americans because of the suspension can be remailed without the need for added postage, according to postal vice president Patrician Giblet. Simply cross out the statement “Service Temporarily Suspended” and use the same package or envelope, she said.

People who not want to remail their materials can seek a refund of the postage by filing Postal Service Form 3533, available at post offices.
