Wait For Permit Changes Plans To Close Part Of Upriver Drive

Spokane County said it will not close a portion of Upriver Drive east of Argonne Road to Plantes Ferry Park on Monday.

The county is still waiting for Washington state Department of Natural Resources permits to allow for logs to be removed during the project.

Previously the county had scheduled shutting down the road for six months to widen lanes on a one-half mile stretch. Drivers would have had to detour south of the road.

Now the road will remain open until permits are received. County officials said they hope to have permit details finished in a couple of weeks, and will notify motorists when the road will be closed.

The $1.3 million project will widen the 24-foot road to 46 feet and add bicycle lanes.
