Ford Unveils Chinese-Made Van

Associated Press

Ford Motor Co. and a Chinese truck maker has unveiled their first jointly made product - a 12-passenger van called China Transit designed to withstand China’s rough roads.

The first vehicle rolled off the assembly line at a plant in Nanchang, southern China, as officials from Ford and Jiangling Motors Corp. looked on.

Ford Chairman Alex Trotman hailed the development as a “major step forward in Ford’s commitment to become a participant in China’s automotive industry.”
