Whits Fall Short At George Fox

Cherish Carrol tossed in a game-high 21 points and Rachel Powell added 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to rally the George Fox Bruins (3-1, 2-0) to a 78-72 Northwest Conference of Independent Colleges win over the Whitworth Pirates (1-3, 1-1) Saturday in Newberg, Ore.
George Fox, which held a 40-34 rebound advantage, outscored the Whits 47-40 in the second half.
Andrea Sherer paced Whitworth with 18 points, while teammate Jamie Wakefield added 15 points. Both Sherer and Wakefield pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Bulldogs outrebounded the Mustangs 49-31, including a 23-12 advantage on the offensive glass, en route to a non-league win at San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Kristin Deal scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Sydney Perno added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for Gonzaga (3-2). Cal Poly fell to 1-3.

Community Colleges of Spokane did something no other team has done in the last four years.
The Sasquatch knocked Chemeketa Community College out of the Everett Classic tournament.
Shelley Massingale scored a game-high 25 points to spark CCS (5-1) to a win over the Chiefs (3-1), who had won the tourney the past four years.
The win sends the Sasquatch into the championship game against Centralia today at 4 p.m. The Trailblazers upended Tacoma 81-63.
“It was a big win for us,” said CCS coach Bruce Johnson.
