Crews Battle House Fire

Rural fire crews tried late Sunday to knock down a house fire that started on the roof then spread to the building below.

A Fire District 9 dispatcher said the single-story home at 24613 N. Elk-Chattaroy Road caught fire about 9:30 p.m., and was still burning an hour later. The dispatcher didn’t know if anyone had been hurt.
