Brunett To Be Installed As Seattle Archbishop

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Most Rev. Alexander J. Brunett will be installed as Seattle archbishop on Dec. 18 at St. James Cathedral.

Brunett succeeds Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy, who died of cancer in June.

Brunett, 63, was bishop in Helena, Mont., when he was appointed by Pope John Paul II in October to be the spiritual leader for 372,000 Catholics in Western Washington.

Archbishop Agostino Cacciavillan, who is the apostolic pro-nuncio to the United States, will represent the pope at the installation Mass.

On Dec. 17, representatives from many religious groups will participate in an interfaith prayer service for Brunett, also at the cathedral.
