Saven To Interview For Bpa Top Spot
John Saven, an irrigation utility official and former Seattle city administrator, was scheduled to be interviewed by Energy Department officials today for the top job at the Bonneville Power Administration.
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Wash., forwarded to Energy Secretary Federico Pena on Monday their formal endorsement of Saven as the successor to former BPA Administrator Randy Hardy.
Saven, director of the Northwest Irrigation Utilities in Portland, Ore., “is the best person for this job,” they wrote.
He has represented public utilities that buy power from the BPA. From 1983 to 1992, he served as deputy superintendent of Seattle City Light, mainly reporting to Hardy.
Roy Hemmingway, an aide to Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, also is believed to be in the running for the job.
