Ymca Hopes To Raise Nearly $3 Million
(From For the Record, December 10, 1997:) YMCA correction: The YWCA was damaged by snow last winter. A story in Tuesday’s newspaper about a YMCA fund-raising drive named the wrong organization. Also, the YMCA hopes to raise $5.4 million in the fund-raiser that starts this month.
The YMCA of the Inland Northwest hopes to raise nearly $3 million for cabins, pools and other improvements.
The nonprofit organization has already raised $2.7 million through corporate and individual gifts, said Bill Wrigglesworth, YMCA corporate board president. The board’s goal is $5.6 million.
The money will go toward construction of 12 new cabins at Camp Reed north of Riverside, Wash., and a planned aquatic center at Mirabeau Point in the Spokane Valley. Nearly $300,000 is for improvements for the Y’s downtown center, which was severely damaged by snow last winter.
