Spokane Police Warn About Travel Con For Credit Numbers

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane Police Department is warning local residents about a scam involving a nonexistent company offering travel deals and requesting credit card numbers.

Under the guise of Group Travel International of Orlando, Fla., faxes are being sent to area businesses.

In one instance, Wells Fargo Bank branches received the faxes, which claimed that Wells Fargo used the company as a travel agent. One employee provided a card number and then had second thoughts, police said.

That employee called the Orlando Better Business Bureau and found out about fraud complaints against the business, police said.

Police remind anyone who is asked for a credit card or bank account number to check out the company before providing the information. , DataTimes
