Private Eu Bathrooms Called A Waste
Giving all 626 deputies in the European Union assembly their own private bathroom is a waste of money, a Belgian lawmaker declared Wednesday.
“Each of the tiny, individual bathroom units in the new parliament building cost $14,790. That’s completely incredible,” said Jaak Vandemeulebroucke.
Shower curtains were installed, then changed to Plexiglass at an extra $550 per bathroom, he added.
The lawmaker also denounced a parliament decision last week to restrict access to the building for reporters, photographers and television crews.
“This European building should be a model of democracy, instead of which it’s gone back to the 19th century,” he said.
