Two Men Face Drug, Weapons Charges

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men were arrested Tuesday when police found pipe bombs, drugs and a loaded handgun in a car they were riding in, police said.

Wade L. Phillips, 29, of Ephrata, and Michael L. Collier, 40, who is believed to be a transient, were booked into Spokane County Jail for possession of drugs and possession of a firearm by felons.

Additional charges may be sought in connection with the pipe bombs, police said.

The two were arrested after officers stopped a car for speeding at Fairview and Adams. The officers ran a records check on the occupants and found that Phillips has a suspended driver’s license and Collier is wanted on felony drug charges and traffic violations, police said.

Officers searched the car and found the handgun, two pipe bombs with fuses, methamphetamine, scales, plastic baggies, a pager and cash, police said.

The Explosives Disposal Unit was called in to remove the explosive devices.
