Girl Dies After Falling Out Window

A 5-year-old girl jumping on a bed with her brother died after she fell from a second-story apartment window in east Vancouver, police said.

The case was being investigated by the police homicide squad.

Investigating officers “are taking the view that this is strictly accidental,” police spokesman Constable Richard Akin said. “Everyone is very, very distraught.”

The girl and her 8-year-old brother, whom police did not identify, were jumping on a bed beside an open window Nov. 30.
