Rich Swan had five steals and 23 points, including a steal and basket with time running out in regulation, as the Hornets (1-2, 1-0) defeated the visiting Lions (0-3, 0-1) in double overtime to snap a 23-game losing streak.

Columbia led with 40 seconds left in regulation.

Inchelium missed 8 of 12 free throws in the second OT.

The Hornets’ last win was Feb. 2, 1996, also over Columbia.

Springdale led by 19 in the third quarter. Cusick’s Jake Sattleen missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that went in and came out.

Shane Meinhold had 11 rebounds and five assists, and Jed Ortner hit 7 of 8 free throws in the second half to lead the Indians (3-0, 1-0) over the visiting Cougars (0-2, 0-1) in the new league’s opening night.

Chewelah shot 27 percent from the floor, Colville 17 of 36 (47 percent). Colville, last year in the Frontier League, was a State AA semifinalist.

Ryan Floch totaled 21 points and 19 rebounds and the visiting Tigers (3-0, 1-0) edged the Patriots (3-1, 0-1) at Edwall.

Floch missed two free throws in the final 30 seconds, but CH couldn’t capitalize after losing starters Adam Bogle and Joe Bell to fouls in the last 3 minutes. Odessa’s Michael Jeske had 12 rebounds.

Davenport’s Travis Telecky, fouled with 1 second left, missed his first free-throw attempt. He purposely missed the second, but the Gorillas couldn’t get off a final shot from the floor.

Davenport’s Dale Buchanan had seven rebounds and hit 7 of 16 from the floor.
