Center Hosts Free Holiday Dinner

From Staff Reports

The East Central Community Center is hosting its 16th annual Christmas dinner today.

The free, sit-down turkey feast runs from 1 to 5 p.m. at the center, 500 S. Stone.

While the dinner is designed for the neighborhood’s low-income residents, everyone is welcome, said Mary McIntyre of the center.

Santa Claus will give every child age 12 or under a new toy.

The event - including the dinner, toys and door prizes - costs the center about $5,000, which is paid for through donations, McIntyre said.

“This is a huge coming together to bring the spirit of Christmas to the East Central neighborhood,” she said.
