Purdue Romps In Boilermaker Invitational

Jaraan Cornell and Chad Austin each scored 25 points Friday to lead No. 8 Purdue to an 87-56 win over Tennessee-Martin in the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.

Purdue (7-2) plays San Francisco for the championship today.

Cornell’s 25 points were a career high. Cornell and Austin teamed to hit 20 of 30 from the field, including 5 of 10 from 3-point range.

Jason Ohlsen led the Skyhawks (3-4) with 15 points. Hamp Harper and Joe Crumby each had 13.

Zerrick Campbell scored 20 points to lead the Dons (4-1) over the Bengals (0-4) in the Boilermaker Invitational.

Pepperdine 62, Auburn 55

In Provo, Utah, Gerald Brown had 10 points during a late 13-1 run to lead the Waves (5-2) over the Tigers (5-2) in the opening round of Brigham Young University’s Cougar Classic.

BYU 83, Weber St. 70

Brian Hamilton scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half to lift the Cougars (2-6) over the Wildcats (1-5) in its Cougar Classic.

In Salt Lake City, Andre Miller scored 17 points, nine in a 21-4 run to open the second half, as the Utes (9-0) blew past the Cougars (7-2) to match their best start since the 1967-68 team began the year with nine straight victories.

In Knoxville, Tenn., Tamika Catchings scored 20 points and the Vols (10-0) overcame an 18-point second-half deficit to beat the Illini (4-3) in the SEC-Big Ten Challenge.
