Jagge Victorious

Compiled From Wire Services

Finn Christian Jagge won the race. Alberto Tomba won the hearts of the fans.

Jagge, a former Olympic champion, captured a men’s World Cup night slalom with two faultless runs through a heavy snowfall and under floodlights.

The 31-year-old Norwegian captured his fourth World Cup career victory by beating Austrian Thomas Sykora by 0.34 seconds and young teammate Hans-Petter Buraas by 0.42.

Tomba rallied from 20th to fourth place, living up to his tradition of producing second-run wonders.
