Lead-Lok, Chinese Firm Plan Venture Idaho Company Also Teams Up With Egyptian Manufacturer

David Gunter Staff writer

Lead-Lok, an 11-year-old Bonner County, Idaho, firm that specializes in manufacturing disposable electrodes for the medical profession, has formed a joint venture with a Chinese firm to build a manufacturing plant in Zibo, China.

Lead-Lok also has entered a similar agreement to build a production facility and ultrasound gel plant in Cairo, Egypt. Both plants are scheduled for completion next summer.

In addition to its headquarters in Sandpoint, Lead-Lok has an electrode plant in Warsaw, Poland, a gel manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico, and a joint venture for gel and electrode plants in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The company sells its products worldwide through an international distribution network.

According to company President Jim Healy, forming joint ventures allows Lead-Lok to enter countries that have huge market potential, but lack access to the firm’s products.

Lead-Lok electrodes are used in cardiac and intensive care units, as well as in pediatric, anesthesia and emergency applications. NASA uses Lead-Lok electrodes in the space program to monitor astronauts.
