Charges Blamed For Big Loss At Tektronix

Compiled From Wire Services

Tektronix Inc. took some onetime charges in its second quarter to post a $21.2 million loss, or 42 cents a share.

The largest electronics company founded in Oregon would have earned $31.7 million, or 63 cents a share, without the previously announced charges for an acquisition and cuts in its video business.

Tektronix earned $26.5 million, or 54 cents a share, for the second quarter of 1996.

Sales were up more than 7 percent, to $529 million from about $477 million a year ago.
