New Restaurant-Sports Bar To Be Part Of Sports Complex

Valley developer and softball lover Rob Lewis hopes to have his new Home Plate Bar & Grill in the Valley’s restaurant lineup by mid-February.

Construction of the 5,700-square-foot sports-themed hamburger restaurant north of Interstate 90 on Harvard Road got under way in June.

The restaurant and sports bar is part of Lewis’s 32-acre Sports World, a $2.5 million, four-field softball complex and indoor recreational facility.

The first game on the new fields will be played April 24, Lewis said.

He declined to comment on the cost of the restaurant, which will serve up steaks and pasta dishes, along with burgers.

River City Pizza and Pasta moving

River City Pizza and Pasta will move next month into the building at Harvard and Wellesley that formerly housed Norma’s Burger Barn.

Dean Tenfert, co-owner of the pizza business with John Tiffany, said he and his partner are moving because the new site offers room for sit-down dining and better exposure.

Their present 300-square-foot Otis Orchards store, just across the street from the 2,600-square foot former hamburger restaurant, does not have space for dine-in service and is tucked behind a video store.

The pizza and pasta shop offers delivery service in Newman Lake, Otis Orchards, Veradale, Liberty Lake and the East Valley areas. Tenfert said he and his partner are talking about expanding the menu to include breakfast.

New financial office opening

A new Edward Jones investment representative’s office will open next month in Sullivan Square.

Roger Pugh, who moved from Bellingham to Spokane this summer, will head up the two-person office in the strip mall at Sullivan and Sprague.

Pugh joined Edward Jones, a full-service investment company, when he moved here. He has been operating out of the Edward Jones office just north of Sprague on University Road since June.
