First-Half Burst Seals Huskies’ Win

Jamie Redd scored 13 of her 25 points during a 29-4 run late in the first half as No. 14 Washington (7-0) coasted to a 93-54 basketball victory over Loyola Marymount (3-5) Saturday in the first round of the Husky Classic in Seattle.

Redd hit three of her five 3-pointers and had an assist during Washington’s decisive first-half run.

The Huskies will face No. 20 North Carolina State, which defeated Santa Clara 87-63, in today’s championship game.

Tracy Ford scored a game-high 18 points and Julie Moore came off the bench to add 14 as the Eagles rallied in the second half to defeat the Titans in a non-league contest at Cheney.

Titans sub Kris Sigg got the hot hand in the first half, scoring 13 points, to help stake her team to a 29-24 lead.

Fullerton (2-7) stretched its lead to 49-40 with eight minutes to play.

Ford’s 3-pointer started Eastern’s Eagles (2-5) on an 11-0 run. Moore’s jumper knotted the score, and Ford followed with a layup to give EWU a 51-49 lead.
