Kidnap Charge Follows Break-In
A Spokane man was arrested Saturday after he broke into a Peaceful Valley home and kidnapped a woman.
Alphonso Guster, 32, was booked into the county jail on two counts of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree kidnapping.
Police said Guster entered a house on West Water Street about 4 a.m., then dragged the woman down the stairs and carried her out to the street.
He released her, but continued making threats. The woman ran inside the house and called police. Officers were unable to find him.
A short time later, Guster returned to the house and started kicking the front door, police said.
The woman called again for help, and this time officers chased Guster under the Maple Street Bridge, where he yelled at them to shoot him. He was arrested without incident.
The victim said she and Guster had a relationship in the past, but he refused to leave her alone. She said her head hurt from the beating but refused medical treatment.
