Approval Granted To Quintelco

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved an application from Quintelco Inc. of New York to resell local telephone services to residential and business customers currently served by U S West Communications, GTE Northwest Inc. and Citizens Telecom.

Quintelco is a subsidiary of Quintel Entertainment, a provider of psychic readings, horoscopes and other service, typically accessed through 1-900 numbers.

In other news, the commission has approved a wireless interconnection agreement between GTE Northwest and GTE Macro Communications Corp. - also known as Mobilenet - as provided for under the federal Telecommunications Act of 1996.

The agreement enables GTE and Mobilenet to interconnect facilities and provides for reciprocal compensation. However, commission approval was on condition that GTE extend the lower rate negotiated with Mobilenet to other wireless service providers in its market area, including AT&T Wireless services and Nextel Communications.
