Judges Plan To Fill Vacancy In January

From Staff Reports

Spokane County District Court judges hope to pick a commissioner next month to fill the vacancy left by Vance Peterson.

Peterson recently was named to replace retiring District Judge Richard Richard. Peterson has been a court commissioner since 1991.

District Court judges will accept applications for the $85,000-a-year job until Jan. 7. They will select a group of finalists to be interviewed by the end of the month, said District Judge Sara Derr.

District Court commissioners handle a variety of simpler, preliminary court hearings. They serve at the discretion of the court’s judges. , DataTimes
