Coeur D’Alenes Co. Posts Lower Earnings
The Coeur d’Alenes Co. Wednesday announced net income of 2 cents per share for the fiscal year ended in September, compared with 6 cents per share for the same period in 1996.
The decrease in net income - from $290,229 in 1996 to $125,310 in 1997 - was partly due to lower demand for fabricated steel products, the Spokane-based company said.
Revenues for the company were $12.8 million in fiscal 1997, an increase of 3 percent over the prior year. Gross margins, however, decreased by 4 percent.
The Coeur d’Alenes Co. will begin its 115th year of operation in 1998. The company started business in Murray, Idaho, during 1884 as a supplier of metals and tools to mining prospectors of North Idaho’s famed Coeur d’Alene Mining District.
