Five years ago: Milan Panic conceded defeat to Slobodan Milosevic almost a week after Yugoslavia’s presidential election. Time magazine announced it had chosen President-elect Bill Clinton its 1992 “Man of the Year.”

One year ago: Six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colo. (To date, the slaying remains unsolved.)
