Rose Bowl Travelers Must Beat Fog First

The Spokane airport saw very little of the fog that blanketed downtown and other parts of the city Tuesday, airport officials said.

“The airport has really been OK,” said Spokane International Airport spokesman Todd Woodard. “It hasn’t been debilitating like downtown.”

Heavy fog forced one Horizon Air flight to circle the airport for about 15 minutes just before 1 p.m., Woodard said. There were no other delays or cancellations.

But today’s weather may not be as cooperative for holiday and Rose Bowl travelers.

The chance for fog this morning is high, Woodard said.

People should be prepared to wait.

“There’s always that potential,” he said.

Fans headed to the Rose Bowl on the three charter flights leaving Spokane today should be at the airport at least two hours early, Woodard said.

Other holiday travelers should also plan on getting there early.

Travelers with early morning flights, which landed in Spokane Tuesday night, may have better luck than those who must wait for a plane to arrive.

“Fog isn’t really debilitating for takeoffs, just for landings,” Woodard said.

He said that people on Rose Bowl charters will be able to check their flight information on the regular arrival and departure screens in the terminal.

Many travel agents also have set up tables at the airport to help Pasadena-bound passengers get situated.
