Moscow Tops Bonners Ferry

Anna Allen and Amber Matthews tossed in 17 points apiece to lead the Moscow Bears to a 65-47 win Saturday over the fifth-ranked Bonners Ferry Badgers in Bonners Ferry.

The victory pulls Moscow (10-7, 7-1) into a first-place tie with Bonners Ferry (12-3, 7-1) in the Intermountain League.

The Bears connected on 15 of 21 shots from the floor to take a 32-21 lead at the half.

Moscow made 25 of 37 (68 percent) shots for the game, led by the 8-of-11 shooting of Matthews.

Sarah Walter topped the Badgers with 14 points. Teammate Amber Paulson chipped in with 10 points.

Bonners Ferry fired off 23 more shots than the Bears, but made 10 fewer.

Alyssa Douglas and Amber Jamison each scored 16 to lead the Hawks (8-9, 4-5) to an Intermountain League win over the visiting Lumberjacks (6-12, 1-7).

Lakeland broke open the game by outscoring St. Maries 47-17 in the second half.

The second-ranked Bengals (17-1, 7-1) held the visiting Trojans (12-8, 4-4) to just four points in the third period and coasted to an Inland Empire League win.

Sara McEachern tallied a game-high 16 points for Lewiston. Brooke Cushman and Laura Bloom scored 14 and 11, respectively.

Post Falls was led by the 11 points of Megan Billetz.

Amber Orr tossed in a game-high 15 points to lead the Vikings (6-14, 2-6) to an Inland Empire League win over the host Bulldogs (2-17, 0-8).

Sandpoint turned the ball over 25 times, compared to nine for Coeur d’Alene.

Natalie Ward scored 12 to lead the Bulldogs.

Priest River’s Larry Johnson scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the first half. Teammate Jeff Griesemer totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Mark Raebel added 15 points for St. Maries.
