Hackl Captures Luge

Georg Hackl of Germany, two-time Olympic gold medalist and current world champion, used an opening run track record to win a men’s World Cup luge event.

Hackl posted the two fastest times of the day. His first run of 50.573 seconds broke the previous track record by more than .3 seconds. He followed that with 50.876, for a total of 1:41.449.

Teammate and 1988 Olympic champion Jens Mueller took the silver in 1:41.898.
