Seattle Archbishop Goes Back To Work

From Staff And Wire Reports

Seattle Archbishop Thomas Murphy, diagnosed with leukemia two months ago, is returning to his public ministry.

Murphy, the spiritual leader for 353,000 Roman Catholics in Western Washington, will celebrate the Mass for World Day of the Sick, a healing service, on Monday at St. James Cathedral.

This week, he will say a morning Mass for legislators, their spouses and lobbyists today at St. Michael Catholic Church in Olympia. The service is an annual tradition.

Murphy, 64, is still receiving treatment for leukemia, but his condition has improved significantly over the past two months, his doctors say.
