Baked Potato Dinner To Benefit Good Shepherd Lutheran Choir

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will host a baked potato supper today at 5 p.m.

A variety of toppings will be available for the potatoes. Ice cream sundaes will be served for dessert. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of the meal. Cliff Carl, a local country and western singer, will perform during the evening at the church, 810 S. Sullivan. All proceeds will benefit the church choir.

Good Shepherd is starting the Lenten season with a special worship service at 7 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, preceded by a soup and bread supper at 6 p.m. Worship services will be offered at each Wednesday during Lent at the same time. Learning activities with Biblical themes will be offered for children in preschool through the fourth grade during the services. Additional activities will be provided through 8:30 p.m. on those evenings.

Holy Trinity spaghetti feed

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines, will host its annual spaghetti feed at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Entertainment will be provided by the children of the church, starting at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets are $4 per person or $15 per family. All proceeds will benefit the Sunday School program and various scholarships.

A worship service will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Ash Wednesday to celebrate the start of Lent. On each subsequent Wednesday during Lent there will be a soup supper at 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief worship service at 7:15 p.m.

Valentine potluck, sing-along

A Valentine potluck and sing-along is planned after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress.

Families are asked to bring one hot dish and a salad or dessert to the dinner. Singles may bring only one item. Beverages and table service will be provided.

The church will also hold a worship service at 7:30 p.m. on Ash Wednesday.

Shrove Tuesday pancake feed

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection is hosting a Shrove Tuesday pancake feed at the church outreach center, 15319 E. 8th.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Maple syrup from Vermont will also be available for purchase. Tickets are $3 per person or $10 per family.

Ash Wednesday worship service

Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines, will hold a worship service at 7 p.m. on Ash Wednesday to celebrate the beginning of Lent.

On subsequent Wednesdays during Lent, a class called “Blessed Are You,” which will study the Beatitudes, will be offered each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The class will run from Feb. 19 to March 26.

Those interested in attending are asked to register in advance by calling the church office at 924-9750.

Donations will be requested to help cover the cost of the book for the class, which is $12.
