Police Use Pager To Summon Suspect

By Compiled From Wire Services

A murder suspect who left behind his pager didn’t get the hint when police called and invited him to pick it up.

Brandon Lamont Dawson, 20, walked in to the Panama City police station Friday and was arrested in the Feb. 4 shooting death of 23-year-old Baron Eugene Demons and wounding of James Wilbert Rumph, 26, in Fort Walton Beach.

Police said Dawson left his pager in a Nissan Stanza when he and an accomplice jumped from the car to escape lawmen about two hours after the shootings.

Panama City Police Detective Dan Bates called Dawson Thursday to tell him his pager had been found, and Dawson came in.
