Iranian Man Finally Marries Sweetheart
It took 60 years, but an Iranian man finally has married the sweetheart of his youth.
The Iran News daily reported Thursday that the 85-year-old man, whose name it did not disclose, long ago fell in love with a girl named Simin in a small town in northern Iran.
Simin’s father insisted they complete their educations before marrying, the newspaper said, then moved his family to separate the young lovers.
“Upon hearing this I was devastated and, despite continued searching, I could not find her,” the Iran News quoted the man as saying.
They were reunited when the man recently moved into a home for the elderly in Tehran and found Simin, now 78, also lived there, the paper said.
He proposed again, she accepted and they finally married.
