Colville Captures League Crown
Frontier League boys
Colville earned its second Frontier League boys basketball title Friday by making certain that West Valley wouldn’t take part in its seventh straight.
Tim Sprangers finished 7 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 3 from long range, to guide the Indians (13-6, 9-2) over the visiting Eagles 71-59.
Colville’s lone league title was shared with WV and Cheney three years ago. The Indians can earn their first outright crown tonight by either beating Pullman or having WV topple Cheney.
WV (12-6, 7-4) can do no better than second place, which would still mean an opening-round bye to the District 7-AA Tournament. The Eagles have won or shared every league title since 1990-91.
Sprangers added seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Colville’s Mike Bowland was 6 of 9 from the field.
