Commissioners Approve Sewer System Extension
Spokane County commissioners voted this week to extend the city of Spokane’s sewer franchise in the Yardley area.
Commissioners approved the city’s request to extend its sewer system later this year to streets in an area bounded by Mission Avenue on the north, Main Avenue on the south, Fancher Road on the east and Thierman Road on the west will begin.
The county also has formed a road improvement district to pave gravel roads in the area at the same time, said Bill Johns, county engineer.
Commissioners approved both projects during their Tuesday night weekly meeting.
Growth boundaries online
A map of the urban growth boundaries adopted earlier this month is available on the Internet.

Hard copies of the growth map are available from the county’s division of long range planning at 1026 W. Broadway.

SCOPE East to meet
SCOPE East will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday night at Otis Orchards Elementary, 22000 E. Wellesley.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Lisa Beckman will talk about the sheriff’s community oriented policing effort domestic violence program. Beckman is the Sheriff’s Department SCOPE domestic violence program coordinator.
Fair board position open
Spokane County commissioners are seeking applications for one seat on the Interstate Fair board.
Anyone interested should submit an application and resume to county commissioners by March 4. Application forms are available in the commissioners’ office, 1116 W. Broadway.
