Local chefs will compete for awards - and guests will savor the competition - at “Wine, Stein and Dine,” a March 1 fund-raiser that will benefit Post Falls schoolchildren.

The event will be sponsored by the Post Falls Education Foundation, which gives grants every year for projects proposed by teachers, principals and counselors.

Last school year, the foundation gave away $9,756 in grants. Grants for this year will be given out after the fund-raiser. Requests total $15,008, said board member Valerie Wilcox.

For $25, participants in ‘Wine, Stein and Dine” will get to taste wines and microbrew beers, served along with food prepared by restaurant chefs. The event will be held at Templin’s Resort from 7 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are available at branches of Mountain West Savings Bank and Northern State Bank, and at the Plant Mill. For more information, call 777-0160.
