Family Life Seminar Will Emphasize Communication Techniques

Redeemer Lutheran Church will host a Family Life Seminar on March 8.

The seminar, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 3606 S. Shafer Road, will feature Jay Harder, a school psychologist who has been teaching parenting classes for the past 20 years.

Harder will address such topics as communicating, listening, establishing rules, and how to deal with defiance. Parents will learn how to improve their communication with their children and learn tips on how to reduce family conflict.

Registration is $10 per person and the deadline is Friday.

Lunch will be provided. No child care will be available for the seminar. For more information or to receive a registration form, call 926-6363.

Engerbretson at Valley Assembly

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Eric Engerbretson will perform this weekend at the Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway.

Engerbretson will participate in the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday and will also perform a free concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Child care will be provided for the evening concert.

Valley Assembly of God will also host a lasagne dinner at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday to raise money for an upcoming women’s retreat. Admission is by donation.

Open house at Valley Bible Church

Valley Bible Church will host an open house at its new sanctuary at 3021 S. Sullivan on Sunday.

A special worship service will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by self-guided tours and the chance to meet the church staff. Refreshments will be served and child care will be available.

Church members moved into the new church in December after meeting in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Pines and Mission for a number of years.

Opportunity Presbyterian book sale

Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines, will hold a used book sale and chili feed on Friday and Saturday. Hours are 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The proceeds will be used to support various programs run by the Women’s Association.

Burchfield Brothers to perform

The Burchfield Brothers of Nashville will perform a free concert Friday at 7 p.m. at the Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene, 8822 E. Upriver Drive.

There will be no charge for admission, but a free will offering will be collected.
