Oregon Mass Murderer Gets Life Prison Term

From Staff And Wire Reports

A jury sentenced Girley Crum Jr. to life in prison without the possibility of parole Tuesday evening for slashing five people to death in one of Oregon’s worst mass murders.

The Coos County jury deliberated for two hours before deciding against a death sentence for Crum, who was convicted of aggravated murder for cutting the throats of Ray and Kelly Jacobs, their two young children and Kelly Jacobs’ brother in the Jacobses’ trailer house on May 9 south of Bandon.

Crum once dated Kelly Jacobs and knew the family, but no motive has been revealed for the slayings.

Testimony in the penalty phase of Crum’s trial indicated he has a long history of violence and had raped a young girl.
