Closed Divorce Court Seen As Sign From Heaven

Associated Press

A couple reporting for a divorce hearing found the rabbinical court closed due to a trade union strike and took the delay as a sign from heaven - to stay together.

The 32-year-old husband and 31-year-old wife consulted with a rabbi and a lawyer and decided to give their marriage another chance, the Yediot Ahronot daily newspaper reported Tuesday.

On Monday, hundreds of thousands of workers walked off their jobs to protest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to raise taxes, slash services and sell state companies.

The strike shut down the stock market, utility companies, day care, postal services, radio broadcasts, banks and seaports.
