Many Services Closed For New Year’s Day

Several businesses and government services are closed or curtailed today because of New Year’s Day holiday.

Government offices and banks: Closed.

Spokane Transit Authority: Buses will run from 8:45 a.m. through 7:20 p.m., when the last bus leaves downtown. Paratransit service from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with all scheduled rides; emergency restrictions have been eliminated. For reservations, call 328-1552. Customer service available at The Plaza downtown from noon to 5 p.m., but no customer service at the Pence-Cole Valley Transit Center. The 328-RIDE information line will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mail delivery: No post office window service. No box service at Riverside and Liberty Park post offices. No regular city or rural deliveries; limited schedule for special and Express Mail deliveries. No mailbox collections today, but early collections Thursday.

Garbage pickup: No collections today. Collections will be one day late through Saturday, back to normal Monday.

City and county libraries: Closed.

Parking meters: On the house.
