Obituaries

David Krell Spokane

Service for David Edward Krell, 20, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Nebo Cemetery. A second memorial service will be at 6 p.m. at Temple Beth Shalom. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Krell died Monday.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Krell graduated from Ferris High School in 1994.

At Ferris he was a member of the National Honor Society and was the Environmental Club president. He was a Chase Youth Award winner in 1993.

He most recently had been a student at a massage therapy school.

He is survived by his parents, Arthur and Donna Krell of Spokane; a sister, Julie Krell of Pullman; and his grandmothers, Irene Krell of Florida and Gertrude Guy of Oregon.

Edna Scott Spokane

Service for Edna C. Scott, 99, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Born in Two Harbors, Minn., Mrs. Scott first moved to Spokane in the 1920s.

She attended high school in Spokane and worked as a sales clerk at CampHeibert Shoe Store.

She later moved to California before returning to Spokane in 1960.

She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Union Gospel Mission and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Charles Scott, died in 1958.

Mrs. Scott is survived by a daughter, Lucille Franks of San Mateo, Calif.; a son, Clifton Scott of Spokane; a brother, Palmer Harnish of Spokane; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Darwin ‘Frank’ Everett Spokane

Memorial service for Darwin E. “Frank” Everett, 73, is set for 1 p.m. Thursday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be private inurnment.

Mr. Everett, who died Saturday, was born in Mabton, Wash.

He had lived in Spokane for 47 years and worked at Kaiser Trentwood for 30 years before retiring in 1982.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris Everett; five sons, Roy Everett of Baltic, S.D., Daniel Everett of Temecula, Calif., Vern Everett of Moses Lake, and Thomas and Mikel Everett, both of Spokane; two daughters, Carol of Spokane and Patty Rice of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Iva Ellis of Spokane, Rosie Gump of Walla Walla and Helen Daug of Bremerton; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Hazelle Nestor Spokane

Service for Hazelle Nestor, 94, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be private burial at Pines Cemetery.

Born in Moorhead, Minn., Mrs. Nestor died Monday.

She moved to Spokane in 1910 with her family.

In 1926, she married William Nestor in Spokane. He died in 1972.

Mrs. Nestor was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Diana Young of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church.

Lois Larsen Spokane

Memorial service for Lois T. Larsen, 82, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Country Homes Christian Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Larsen, who died Thursday, was born in Paradise Valley, Ore.

She lived in Spokane for more than 50 years and worked as a registered nurse. She was the registered nurse on duty when Holy Family Hospital opened.

She was a member of Country Homes Christian Church, the American Nurses Association and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Larsen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter Larsen; two daughters, Lynette Tobert and Karen Skidmore, both of Spokane; a son, Larry Larsen of Front Royal, Va.; two sisters, Barbara Robinson and Jean Holliday, both of Spokane; a brother, Carl Taylor of Ephrata, Wash.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Frances Klawunder Spokane

Service for Frances Louise Klawunder, 92, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Klawunder died Saturday.

She was born in Chicago and moved to the Deer Park area with her family in 1911.

She was a member of the Civic Center Association of Deer Park and served on the board of trustees of the Deer Park Women’s Civic Club. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary No. 32 and the Ladies Auxiliary of Patriarch’s Militant No. 2.

Her husband, Walter Klawunder, died in 1977.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Grace Cox Colville, Wash.

Service for Grace Cox, a 66-year resident of Colville, will be at 1 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Colville. Burial will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville.

Mrs. Cox, 93, died Monday.

She was born in Somerset, Ky.

She was orphaned at the age of 4 and moved to Spokane with her sister.

She worked as a telegrapher for Great Northern Railroad for a short time.

In 1936, she married Walter Cox in Spokane, and they lived in Arden, Wash. Her husband died in 1980.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the Arden Home Ec Club and the Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Gumm, and a son, Robert Darnielle, both of Colville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Eva Savas Spokane

Service for Eva K. “Aunt Eva” Savas, 82, is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Savas died Sunday, her 82nd birthday.

She was born in Burt, N.D.

She was a longtime Spokane resident and was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Her husband, Andrew, died in 1963.

She is survived by a sister, Eugenia Tawney of Spokane.

Marjorie Bounds Spokane

Service for Marjorie B. Bounds, 87, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bounds, who died Saturday, was born Wheatland, Wyo. She had been a Spokane resident since 1946.

Her husband, Harl Bounds, died in 1978.

Mrs. Bounds is survived by two sons, Francis Porter of Sandpoint and Bernard Porter of Spokane; a daughter, Betty Bos of Spokane; two brothers, Chester Etheridge of Spokane and Ray Ivan Etheridge of Seaford, Va.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lula Smith Spokane

Service for Lula H. Smith, 81, was held.

Mrs. Smith, who died Saturday, was born in in Adrian, N.D.

She graduated from high school in Conrad, Mont., and moved to Spokane in 1950.

She worked as secretary and bookkeeper in medical offices in Spokane before retiring in 1975.

She attended Shiloh Hills Baptist Church.

Her husband of 27 years, Harold Smith, died in 1967.

Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons, Merlin Smith of Woodinville, Wash., Roger Smith of Colbert and Stanley Smith of Spokane; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
