Dollar Loses Ground To Yen

The dollar fell for the second straight day against the yen Tuesday after senior government officials in Japan intensified warnings about the yen’s weakness and called for currency stability.

Traders said the dollar also declined after Gail Fosler, chief economist for the influential Conference Board research group, said she believed the U.S. currency is 15 percent overvalued vs. the yen.

The dollar was little changed in most other foreign-exchange dealings.
